Order of christian initiation CHILDREN

ST. MICHAEL’S formal sessions begin in August and meet
every Wednesday evening, 6:00-8:00pm, in the parish hall.

Informal sessions are offered to those who are
waiting to ENTER THE FORMAL SESSIONS.

OCIA for Children and Youth (also known as OCIC) is designed for children and teens, ages 7–17, who are preparing to enter fully into the Catholic Church and are not on the traditional sacramental preparation path.

This process is for:

  • children who are unbaptized and seeking Baptism

  • children who have been baptized in another Christian tradition and are seeking full communion with the Catholic Church

  • baptized Catholic children who have not yet received the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist

Through this journey, children and their families are introduced to the foundations of the Christian faith and the teachings of the Catholic Church in an age-appropriate and meaningful way. Participants learn about prayer, the sacraments, the Mass, and what it means to live as a disciple of Jesus Christ within the life of the Church.

As part of the process, children and families are encouraged to become involved in parish life so they can experience the support, worship, and community of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. This helps them grow in faith and discern how God may be calling them to live and serve within the Church.

At the appropriate time, those preparing will receive the Sacraments of Initiation:

  • Baptism (for those who are unbaptized)

  • Confirmation

  • First Eucharist

This formation is a beautiful opportunity for children and families to grow together in faith and take meaningful steps toward full participation in the sacramental life of the Church.
