Order of christian initiation adults

ST. MICHAEL’S formal sessions begin in August and meet
every Wednesday evening, 6:00-8:00pm, in the parish hall.

Informal sessions are offered to those who are
waiting to ENTER THE FORMAL SESSIONS.

OCIA ministry guides adults, 18 years or older, unbaptized and baptized, in discerning if God is calling them to live a life of Christian discipleship through the Catholic faith. It is also for adult baptized Catholics who have not received the sacraments of Confirmation and First Eucharist.Throughout this process,  we discuss topics on Christianity and the teachings of the Catholic Church. We participate in a variety of parish activities to give our catechumens and candidates a sense of what our faith community is like and how God may be calling them to use their gifts in our parish.  At the Easter Vigil Mass, they will receive the

Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism (for those unbaptized), Confirmation and First Eucharist. We also assist parents who have children 7- 17 years old who are not on the traditional sacrament path to prepare and receive the Sacraments of  Initiation. We offer an adult Confirmation prep course for baptized Catholics who have received First Eucharist, but have not yet been confirmed.

Qualified instructors in this ministry must have a degree in Theology or have completed the three year diocesan Ministry Formation Program. Sponsors must be Catholics in good standing who are active in the life of the parish.
