lector ministry
Called to Proclaim
the Living Word.
The Lector Ministry is a sacred service to the Church through the reverent proclamation of the Word of God at Mass. Lectors are entrusted not merely with reading Scripture, but with proclaiming it in a way that invites the faithful to listen, reflect, and encounter the living Word of God. Through careful preparation and prayerful delivery, lectors help foster within the assembly a deeper love for Sacred Scripture and a more attentive participation in the liturgy. Those who serve in this ministry should be well suited, properly formed, and committed to carrying out this role with dignity, clarity, and reverence.
Eligibility for this ministry requires that individuals be registered members of St. Michael’s Parish. Those who serve as lectors may also be involved in another parish ministry, such as choir, ushering, adult altar serving, or Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, but may serve in only one role per Mass.
