EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS TO HOMEBOUND

Carrying Christ Beyond the Church Walls.

The Extraordinary Ministers to the Homebound Ministry serves fellow Catholics who are unable to attend Mass by bringing them the Holy Eucharist and the care of the parish community. Ministers visit individuals in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, private residences, and at Baptist Nassau Hospital.

All ministers are properly trained and commissioned as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. Formation includes completion of the Diocese of St. Augustine’s
VIRTUS: Protecting God’s Children, a background check, and instruction in the Rite of Holy Communion for the Sick. Additional training provides practical guidance and best practices to ensure the safety, dignity, and well-being of those being visited, the minister, and the Church.

The ministry is organized into four visitation teams, each led by a team leader. Extraordinary Ministers to the Homebound are individuals of strong faith who are committed to serving the sick and sharing the grace and presence of the Holy Eucharist. This ministry offers a meaningful and rewarding opportunity to extend Christ’s love beyond the walls of the church.
