EXTRAORDINARY MINISTERS of holy communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMHCs) serve St. Michael’s by assisting in the reverent distribution of the Body and Blood of Christ during Mass. Through this important liturgical ministry, EMHCs help the faithful receive Holy Communion with dignity and care while supporting the prayerful celebration of the Eucharist.

Serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion is both a privilege and a sacred responsibility. Those who serve are called to have a deep reverence for the Eucharist, to participate faithfully in the sacramental life of the Church, and to approach their ministry with humility and devotion.

WHO CAN BE INVOLVED?

Those interested in serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion must:

• Be at least 16 years of age

• Be a practicing Catholic in full communion with the Catholic Church

• Be a registered member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church for at least one year

• Attend Mass weekly and on Holy Days of Obligation

• If married, have a marriage celebrated according to the norms of the Catholic Church

• Understand the sacred responsibility of the ministry and intend to fulfill it faithfully

• Be willing to make a three-year commitment

• Not be involved in more than one liturgical ministry

• Complete the required training and be commissioned before serving

MEETING SCHEDULE

There are no regularly scheduled meetings at this time. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion typically meet once per year for training, formation, or ministry updates.
